  • GARY MOORE (4 April 1952 - 6 February 2011) In remembrance to one of my all time guitar heroes, who sadly passed away a year ago today. This remains one of my favourite performances by him and I can still remember buying the original version, written and recorded by Roy Buchanan, when I was still a 15 year old boy and starting out learning to play the guitar. This performance was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1990 - a venue he revisited a number of times through the years. Gary, you are sadly missed.

Great tone and vibrato and the sustain is crazy.  He wrings so much from one sustained note then he just smokes some fast runs out of blue and the fast notes sound fast in contrast.  Mastery.

I love the fact that Gary Moore is still loved and revered as one of the greatest guitarists ever. There seems to be a large cohort of us diehard fans on here. Let's make sure he is never forgotten!

It’s April 2020. Global pandemic continues to rage. I came across this by way of its title. I cried and I’m not ashamed.

There are many good guitarists who played fast and loud but only one who could play with such passion and dedication to the music ... And when he passed away many years ago there is still no one who can fill in this empty room that he left behind ... We miss you Gary Moore ... Rest in Peace

He doesn't play the guitar, he is the guitar.

This performance is beyond... anything I can say in here. Just one note: do not forget big Big Roy Buchanan who composed the piece.

To say this man plays with passion, would be an understatement of monumental proportions.

I've played guitar for 45 years.. I could not, cannot even begin to stand next to this man. He is without a doubt one of the top 5 guitarist of all time. The simple fact is the man lived and breathed music. There will never be another like him.

Man, Roy would approve; it's almost like the opposite side of the same coins, his and Gary's .... RIP Roy and Gary, both masters of their craft.
